The Smart/Casual Look

"The dress code is smart/casual." Is the phrase that makes us panic. What is smart/casual?! It can be so many different things! I don't own much smart/casual attire, so I decided to invest in some key pieces for such occasions!
Miss Selfridge have had some really nice clothes in lately, and it was this top and these trousers that really drew my attention. The top is slightly cropped and it meant to be off the shoulder, however it seemed to want to creep back up onto my shoulders! I paired it with these lovely black and white daisy print trousers. Perfect for spring! They are flattering too, added bonus! Unfortunately I didn't manage to fit the whole of the outfit into the photo (small room problems!) but they are cigarette style and straight and cropped at the bottom. I paired them with a pair of low boot buckle up heels from New Look, and I had my white frilly socks poking out over the top. The two chokers were a set, also from Miss Selfridge.

I do love a good monochrome look too, it always looks effortlessly classy.

I rarely get to dress up these days because I'm usually in my work uniform, so when I am doing something on my day off I take advantage! That's the reason why my blog rarely has OOTDs lately. Hope you enjoyed this rare one!

What's your go to smart/casual look?

Trip to Carsington Water

I'm currently at my uni flat and have no internet and I'm blogging off my phone so just thought I would do a quick post! :)

Earlier this week I visited Carsington water. This is a lovely area situated around a man made lake in the Peak District in Derbyshire. There's lots of water activities you can take part in or you can even hire a bike to cycle the 7 mile distance around the lake. There is also a good play area for kids and a water museum which is pretty cool! However we usually just tend to go there for a walk! I went with my mum on Thursday and we had a good, long walk and I got a chance to take some snaps of the beautiful scenery! I've included some blow :).

If you ever get the chance I'd definitely put this on your list of places to visit! It's lovely whatever your age and great for kids too. There are lots of little shops so it can be one of those days where you can spend nothing or a lot! Either way it's fun :). Below I've included my OOTD, it's entirely New Look and I just wore it with some New Look Converse lookalikes! I think I look quite countrified ;).

Trip to London Including Icebar

On Tuesday I visited the amazing city that is London! I had actually only ever been to London twice before these last couple of years, where I seem to have been quite a lot! I've been on two trips to visit art galleries, once to London Zoo, last summer I was luckily enough to visit the Paralympics, and at Christmas time I visited the Harry Potter Studio Tour London, which I HIGHLY recommend! But this visit was actually one of my favourite yet.

I went with my mum and my mum's friend and her friend's daughter (so a proper girly outing!) we got the train there and back which worked out quite cheap (I'm good with trains now as I get them a lot being a student!) First off we visited Camden Town, which I have never been to and quickly realised is very cool and quirky! I don't think I've ever seen so many people advertising tattoos and piercings before, and the 3D shops were amazing!

I bought a few bits here, I was trying to be good but I couldn't resist!

The cheapest thing I bought was this skirt from H&M, only £3.99, bargain! I actually bought one of these skirts a couple of years ago in black, and I'm happy to say that the design has actually improved (in my opinion). The band along the skirt is now wider, and the material itself actually feels thicker to me, making the skirt appear more flattering! Will definitely be collecting these in a range of colours! You can wear them with anything too, shirts, jumpers, baggy T-shirts, it all works!

Next, we visited Urban Outfitters (oh no)... This shop actually majorly depressed me! I quite literally could have bought three quarters of the shop, but it is not cheap! And me being a student on a budget, I had to really watch my spending! So it was more of just a window shopping experience, however I have mentally added a lot of things to my wish list! The main one being a pair of levi shorts, they were £35 at Urban Outfitters and although they were good quality I have seen cheaper. Does anyone know any good places that I could get them? I've seen some on Ebay but not sure if they are real or not and its a gamble with what pair you get sent! However I did make a small purchase! I bought this lovely white picture frame, which is to put in my room when I have redecorated! It was £10 and I think it looks very vintage, love it! Pictured with it is a green one that I purchased a couple of weeks in Bakewell, I was thrilled when I found the white one because they go together so well! I can't remember exactly how much this one cost, but I think it was around the £8 mark.

I also bought a set of alphabet spaghetti fridge magnets! A bit random I know, but they will fit in perfectly at my new uni flat! Endless fun will be had. These were also £10 from Urban Outfitters, a bit pricey but I had to do it!

A ladybird decided to hitch a ride on my Urban Outfitters bag :).

The final purchase of the day (and also my favourite) happened when we were walking through Camden Town market, and I spotted some wooden iphone cases, which I have seen and always wanted. But then I noticed they had ipad mini cases too! I got super excited about this, however they were £28, so I went away and googled them on my phone to see if I could find some cheaper online, but it worked out about the same and there were hardly any that I could find online! So I went back to the stall and tried out my haggling skills, and I managed to get him down to £23, yay! :) I absolutely love this. You can feel where its been etched, and it looks so cool! It's even lined with black felt stuff on the inside :). Very happy!

Anyway I'll finally talk about the Icebar! Icebar is part of the Icehotel range, and personally I think it's a very good deal! Most of the times online show that if you pay on the door it will cost you £14, however it increases by a couple of pounds if you go during peak times (i.e. weekends) however if you book in advance its only £12.50, which is what we did. For this price you get 40 minutes in the Icebar, along with a cocktail of your choice and they provide you with thermal capes. However you can also stay in the lounge and outside area for as long as you like and buy more drinks there. The Icebar is located on Heddon Street, just off Regent Street, which is a really cute little alley with bars and restaurants down it. Our initial impression was that the Icebar looked very posh and expensive! We sat down to have a drink before we went in, and I won't lie I was anticipating highly priced drinks, however I was pleasantly surprised to find they were very reasonable! Most cocktails were £5.50, and you don't get much cheaper than that here in Nottingham! They were nice too and the service was very friendly. Inside the Icebar was obviously cold! Make sure you wear socks and preferably something on your legs as the cape doesn't fall that low! It was amazing how they had created it, and even your glasses were made of ice! (Although these were a bit difficult to drink from!) I have posted some pictures of the bar below, it was really fun to visit and I'd definitely recommend it! We went in at 5.45 and there weren't many of us, however later it would definitely get busier as there was a queue when we left! We preferred it quiet though as it meant we got a seat, which there weren't many of in the Icebar.

I really enjoyed our little trip to London, I definitely want to go again soon and explore more places! I will leave you with what I wore for the day :).

Greetings and Mini Haul!

Well hey there! <3

I guess I'm new to this, and not really sure how to "introduce" my blog... Basically I've been at a bit of a loose end lately, I'm a student and it's our summer holidays at the moment, and I'm a very creative person and have been looking for a way to express this recently, and this just seemed to fit! I'm a total rambler, and I like to write so blogging should work well for me! I'm not going to go into too much detail about myself at the moment, I'll save that for a later post, I will just let you know for the moment that I am a student from Nottingham, but study in Sheffield so spend a lot of the year there and I also have a part time job up there.
This blog will not have a singular theme (which is bad I know!) but I couldn't just limit myself to one topic ;). I love all things to do with fashion and beauty, and I'm also a bit of a gym junkie and on a health journey at the moment, and I also love to cook and bake! So all that along with my student lifestyle will feature heavily in this blog! Basically I will write about anything I am interested in, and if anyone stumbles across this and finds it helpful then thats all the better! :) Don't be afraid to message me, I'm welcome to responses and new ideas!

Anyway, onto my first official post...

Mini haul and outfit of the day!

So today I had a little trip to Boots, I needed a couple of things but the purse strings are a bit tight at the moment (being student I'm always poor *sigh*) so I had to limit myself to just a few key purchases even though I could have easily bought half the shop!

The main thing I actually went to boots for was this Toni&Guy salt spray! I had seen a few bloggers rave about it so it was a must! My hair is quite long and naturally straight and it needs some more texture sometimes, so I'm hoping this will help! I bought the "casual" bottle which is basically the mini version, just incase I don't like it. It was £2.19 I think. I will write a review when it's been tried and tested!

I have been wanting a coral lipstick for so, so long! I really wanted one for my holiday next month (Whoaaaa we're going to Ibizaa!) After swiping nearly every coral lipstick in Boots along my hand, I finally decided on this one! Which true to form, is called "coral" and it is number 53. I believe it was £4.99. I like Barry M because they are small and I hardly ever use lipsticks so there's no point in me buying a larger, more expensive one!

Okay so I actually had no intention of buying any nail varnish... But my eyes strayed and of course when I noticed the new confetti range I just had to have!! It's number 327 and called Marshmellow (sounds so yummy!) Barry M always seem to lead the way with nail varnish, and these could be the next big thing?! I also fell IN LOVE with the lush Tiffany green colour! It is number 329 and called Greenberry. It's part of the gelly nails range, and they go on really well and look nice and glossy so it was a must. They were both £3.99 each, however when you spent more than £6 you got either the dark pink or a yellow one free! So I chose the girly pink, not quite sure how I'd wear yellow! Going to test the confetti and green tonight, will post the results!

This cute heart basket was £12 from BHS (£10.80 for me with student discount!) The label actually states its for the bathroom, however I currently have an extremely cluttered dressing table at the moment, and needed something large that I could store everything in that would look nice too! I wanted something a bit vintage, and I'm considering adding a ribbon or something... If I do I'll post the finished result :).

My OOTD <3

I kept it pretty simple today, I spent a while on my makeup so didn't really have time for hair/outfit planning! I was only going to the local shops and for a spot of lunch so I just threw on some black leggings, a black vest top and sheer top. It's a dip hem top (drops a lot at the back) I can't remember how much it was as I bought it last year, but it's part of the Cameo Rose label at New Look. I'm also wearing my Tiffany necklace and a watch from New Look. I paired this outfit with my flowery vans. There's not much to say about my hair, it was a bit greasy so I talced it to death.. trying not to wash it more than twice a weak to keep it in good condition!

Bye for now! <3
