FOTD: A Natural Look

Today I thought I'd do a spontaneous face of the day - don't think I've ever done one?! You will have to excuse my poor background! I wasn't planning on taking photos but just had to take advantage of the amazing light streaming through my window! I'm loving the sunny days we've had this week, even if it is still cold! So today's makeup was quick and easy. I had a lot of work to do so didn't want to waste time on it and I'm going out later so it will all be coming off and being reapplied anyway! This is a really easy look though, and feels quite natural to me as I'm not wearing any eyeshadow and for those of you who know me, that happens very rarely.

Face:
Revlon Colorstay Foundation for combination/oily skin
Collection 2000 Concealer in shade 2 (light)
MAC Pressed Blot Powder in medium
AVON Deep Glow Bronzing Powder
Rimmel London Powder Blush in Winter Glow

Eyes:
Urban Decay Brow Box in Brown Sugar
Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara

Lips:
Nivea Essential Care Lip Salve

Outfit:
Shirt - New Look
Necklace - Tiffany

This look is super easy, it gives that flawless skin look but doesn't look like you have gone to too much effort because your eyes are bare. So simple if you're stuck for time or going somewhere where you don't want to look like you're wearing a ton of makeup.

I'll just mention my hair, I don't usually wear it up, but quickly shoved it up before bed last night and woke up with a messy bun that I actually thought looked okay so I just left it. Bit of a miracle really! I provided a back shot to show the true messiness ;).

What's your go to FOTD when you're in a rush?

My Week in Photos: Part 3

Okay so technically this is two weeks in photos! I haven't done one of these in a while, because frankly, my life is pretty boring at the moment! Who wants to see pictures of endless lecture notes and books?! Because that is currently my life as the dreaded dissertation is looming over me like a dark cloud. My life consists of going to the gym, eating, going to lectures, eating, either going to work or doing work, more eating then sleeping. However seeing as it's Sunday I thought I would take a break to write a quick post! :)

1. Evidence of the wind here in Sheffield, I don't know about where you guys live but I've been struggling to stand up here!
2. I attempted to make those Creme Egg brownies that I've seen circling the internet (recipe here) however mine didn't look half as good and they were too sweet for anyone to eat except me!
3. Finally saw the boyfriend over Valentine's weekend! :)
4. My obsession with cats is growing, I spend so much time looking at photos on Instagram and videos on YouTube is becoming a bit of a problem..
5. My Camp America T-Shirt arrived yay!!
6. Most amazing breakfast ever!!
7. Trying out black coffee before I spend my summer in America! (it's taking some getting used to).
8. Another breakfast - my fav thing at the moment, especially after the gym, I could eat this all day!
9. Wore a funky hairstyle to bed to try and encourage some waves. It sort of worked?!

Hope you enjoyed this little update!

What are you guys doing this lovely Sunday? I'm not working today so I'm heading home for some family time!

Monday Fitspiration

I thought I'd provide you all with some fitness inspiration this morning! I was in need of some and then I remembered that it's Monday, and what way to start of the week than with a positive burst of will power? (Especially after Valentine's weekend!).

Here are some of my personal favourite fitness pics, (most taken from Instagram, but there's a foody in there of my own!)

I want this to be a light hearted post, but I should probably just cover myself here by saying don't take anything to extremes, skinny is not necessarily healthy, as long as you're fit and healthy it doesn't matter what size you are, and the occasional treat is fine just remember that key word moderation!

Happy Monday!

Body Shop Haul

*Yep that's my Finding Nemo poster in the corner of the pic there, sorry I couldn't bare to take it down!

Hello Lovelies! I hope you all had a lovely Valentine's weekend, whether you're all loved up or enjoying life as a singleton. So it may have been over a week since I last posted.. Oops! That's not by choice, but time seems to be flying by recently! I have my dissertation due in March and I've just been working on that every spare minute! I finally finished sorting through all my data today, so I thought I would treat myself to a little blogging time! :)

Haul posts are very rare from me at the moment, as I'm trying to save every penny for America which means not spending lots on hauls!! However I feel I can be excused with this one as it was an absolute bargain!

I was drawn into The Body Shop because they had a 20% off offer for anyone who owned a loyalty card and I'd been eyeing up there Vitamin E Face Mist for a while so I thought I'd take advantage! However, as you can see, I ended up getting a lot more. Alas, I soon fell for their multiple offers and good customer service and ended up buying so much more.

It was my birthday in December but I never had chance to use my £5 off (courtesy of the loyalty card) but the lovely lady said I could use it then anyway. However, she also informed me that if I spent £18 I would get a free gift set worth £22.50, which contained the Big and Curvy Mascara, eyeliner in black, Vitamin E Cream Cleanser and Vitamin E Sink-in Moisture Mask. Of course I had to spend a little more to get this offer, so I picked up the Warming Mineral Face Mask and the Moisture Surging kit, which was on offer for £16 (worth £23) and includes the Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-oil and the Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream.

A lot right?! You're probably thinking I've spent a fortune.. However it only came to £22.50 with all the offers! I am a very happy bunny it's safe to say! Plus it seems that I get to try out most of their Vitamin E range! My skin has been breaking out quite a lot lately, which I think is a combination of stress and harsh weather conditions! I haven't had chance to fully test all the products yet, but I can already recommend the Warming Mineral Face Mask after using it just twice, as my skin has been quite dry around my forehead and this really felt like it cleaned out my skin but gave it a good moisture boost too! I am loving the Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-oil (what a mouthful?!) too! I have wanted to try a serum for a while now, and I have to say it just feels luxurious applying it at night, I applied the Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream over the top (I feel they are meant to be used together) and I had a feeling that as my skin is quite oily already I would wake up feeling very greasy, but not at all! In fact better than usual. My skin felt so much better too just after one use. I am so fussy when it comes to moisturisers too so I am already expecting great things from this one!

I'm yet to try the mascara and eyeliner as I already have some on the go, and have only used the cleanser and face mist once, but I will let you know how I find them.

Have you tried any of The Body Shop's Vitamin E range lately? How did you find it?

Valentine's Day Gift Ideas for Her

Yankee Candle
(20% Fresh Cut Roses by Yankee Candle is currently being donated to Breast Cancer Care which is a great cause).

This is the second post in my Valentine's gifts for Him and Her. Compiling a list of gifts for a man was quite difficult, but this list was super easy! I would love any of these gifts myself ;). Again I tried to think of presents that varied in price and type so there's something for everyone. However there seems to be a theme of red and pink, only a couple of those were intentional!
Since my boyfriend and I aren't buying each other gifts this year, I may have treated myself to the Hey Girl journal - I couldn't resist! There were so many lovely gifts on ASOS, I could have compiled my whole list of there really.

Are you celebrating Valentine's Day this year? What are you planning?

Valentine's Day Gift Ideas for Him

Leather Journal (fair trade)

Since Valentine's Day is coming up I thought I'd do a couple of posts for what to get Him and Her! Just incase you have a special someone in your life but you're a bit stuck for ideas :).

This first post is for Him. I know when it comes to Valentine's Day it's very difficult when buying for your man because everything is so girly!! Flowers and pink covered chocolates aren't to every mans taste. When compiling this list of gifts I tried to keep different ages and budgets in mind. There's a couple of things I wouldn't mind on there myself *Game of Thrones obsessive*.

Me and my boyfriend aren't actually buying each other anything for Valentine's Day this year as we are both being careful with our pennies. However a nice relaxing night in will be on the cards. I don't see him very often so just seeing him will be good enough!

What are you doing this Valentine's Day? Are you celebrating as a single pringle or doing some big romantic gesture for the one you love?

Being Happy...

I know this is a bit of a random subject, but it's just something I've felt like writing for a while and I'm feeling philosophical :). This isn't a post on "how to be happy" I'm no expert on that! But I just though I'd write about what I feel about happiness. After all, life is about being happy, right?!

Being happy, it sounds so simple. But I know for many people it's not. Different things make us happy, whether it's the big things in life, or all the simple, little things that all add up to make our lives what they are. I know when I was younger, in my teenage years, sometimes I just felt I struggled to be happy. I wouldn't go as far as saying I was depressed, but I think you're teenage years are a very confusing time; you're riddled with hormones, you don't really know who you are and you're under a lot of pressure to be and look a certain way. If you're in this position, I think you just have to remember that you're situation is not permanent, things will change and get better and those people who put you down will most likely end up being losers later on in life. Horrible people have very few true friends remember.

As I got older I just seemed to wake up feeling happy more often. I'm not sure what changed to be honest, my confidence has improved a lot and I know that if I want something in life then I just need to go out and get it. I've also learnt not too worry too much, things do have a way of working out. I also do try to believe everything happens for a reason. If your boyfriend breaks up with you, just try to think that he wasn't the one. Obviously you don't just get over someone in a day, but it does help to stay positive.

There are some things in my life that are big and scary, and could get worse anytime soon, and although sometimes I do get really upset about the situation, I try not to panic and live every day being happy. Even if it just means watching your favourite tv programme at the end of a long hard day, if it's something that you can look forward to and will make you happy, then do it.

I think self confidence does determine a huge amount of how happy we are, of course along with having a loving and supporting set of family and friends. If you are confident you do feel like you can take anything life throws at you. Confidence is something I'm still working on. It's important to love your family and not take them for granted, as they are truly the only people in your life that you know will stick around. As for friends, I find it's better to have a small group of close friends, rather than a large group of extended friends. I know my friends will always be there for me when I need them, and I can honestly see us still being friends when we are old biddies.

Appreciate the little things in life. That's where I think happiness lies. Take everything a day at a time and try not to overthink things. It will work out :).  Always have hope, even when things are looking really dark. Get rid of the negative things in your life, if they are bringing you down you don't need them. Whether that be a job or a boyfriend or anything else. Look after your body too, that will give you confidence. Hold your head high, you're just as important as anyone else. Embrace what you have and remind yourself what you're good at and what makes you, you. Be the best version of you, not a poor copy of someone else. Everyone has down days when you just don't want to get out of bed. This is normal and sometimes it's just your body's hormones reaping havoc. Do what makes you happy, even if that means taking a risk, you'll only regret it if you don't.

Being independent can make you happy, I took a risk when I went to uni, I was terrified but I went out there, completely out of my comfort zone, I used to be terrified of getting the bus alone but I got on the train to the nearest shopping centre and went out there and got myself a job. I felt proud of myself for doing something that scared me.

I'm sorry if this post was a bit deep for some of you, but I want my blog to be honest and have some depth to it for those who need help. It's also quite a reflective post on my part too, as I think some of the things I've mentioned I've managed to overcome in the last couple of years. I promise my next post will be nice and light ;).
